Wisconsin China Initiative Events on April 7 and 8

The Wisconsin China Initiative at UW-Madison invites you to attend two upcoming events.

PUBLIC TALK: “The Third Waves: Recent Films from Taiwan”

Thursday, April 7: Lin Wenchi, the director of film studies at National Central University in Taiwan will deliver a public talk, “The Third Waves: Recent Films from Taiwan.” 4-5:30 p.m., Vilas Communication Hall.

CHINA ECONOMIC FORUM

Friday, April 8: The China Economic Forum, a student group on campus, will host a conference on China and the U.S. The conference will be held from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m., in the Plenary Room (room 1310) of Grainger. It will begin with opening remarks by Vice Provost for Globalization Gilles Bousquet.

Speakers include: Sida Liu (China’s legal reforms, 1:55 – 2:15 p.m.), Edward Friedman (how Beijing and D.C. have responded to recent crises in Japan and North Africa, 2:15 – 2:35 p.m.), Bob Krainer (China and financial reform, 3:05 – 3:25 p.m.), and Sheldon Du (how climate change policies impact US-China trade, 3:35-3:45 p.m.)
