The Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) hosted the International Students Graduation Ceremony last Wednesday, May 5, 2010.
Students were given the opportunity to mingle and share stories before being greeted by Paula Bonner, president and CEO of the WAA. Division of International Studies‘ Dean and Vice Provost for Globalization Gilles Bousquet, Associate Vice Chancellor Steve Stern, and Director of International Student Services Laurie Cox then offered their congratulations to the group of graduates.
“You have brought the world to Wisconsin, now you will bring Wisconsin to the world,” said Bousquet
The congratulatory remarks were followed by several personal testimonies from graduating international students, including a traditional South African song performed by recent PhD graduate Sibongile Magwaza.
To date, there are more than 4,000 international students studying at UW–Madison.
