Engineering faculty elected to AIMBE College of Fellows

The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has elected four faculty members and affiliates from the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering to its select College of Fellows.

Zhenqiang (Jack) MaKristyn MastersWeibo Cai and Elizabeth Burnside have earned the honor, which is among the highest professional distinctions given to medical and biological engineers in recognition of pioneering work.

Ma, the Lynn H. Matthias Professor in Engineering and a Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was selected based on his innovative work in the development of graphene micro electrodes for electrocardiography and electrocorticography, and 3-D photoreceptor scaffolds for cell therapy.

Masters, a Vilas Distinguished Professor and H.I. Romnes Faculty Fellow in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, was recognized for her contributions to the design of disease-inspired culture platforms and mentorship of women in STEM fields.
