Services for International Students

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SERVICES

International Student Services (ISS) provides information for international students at UW–Madison about the campus and community, along with training and programs to enhance the awareness and understanding of cross-cultural and international issues. ISS administers UW–Madison’s SEVIS (federal tracking system) and assists students with visa and related immigration issues.

UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS

The Office of Admissions and Recruitment provides information about the application process, deadlines and instructions, which differ for international students entering as freshman or transfer students. The admissions office can advise students regarding the necessary documentation for applying from a school that does not use a U.S. curriculum.

GRADUATE ADMISSIONS

Graduate admission at UW–Madison is a shared process between academic degree programs and the Graduate School. All applicants must first select a specific graduate program, and then apply online.

SHORT-TERM STUDY AT UW–MADISON

The Visiting International Student Program (VISP) welcomes non-degree international students who have completed at least one semester of college/university study and meet the proficiency requirements. VISP provides personalized advising as well as a variety of cultural and social events.
