PhD Student Seungmi Cho Recognized for Teaching with Award

PhD Student Seungmi Cho,  MSW ‘07, BSW ’06 received a 2023-2024 Capstone Teaching Award for her outstanding teaching record at UW-Madison. This campus-wide TA Award speaks to Seungmi’s contribution to students and the learning environment on campus.

She has taught number of courses for the school in her time, including Advanced Macro Practice (Lecturer), Human Behavior and the Environment (TA), Homelessness: Service Learning Course (TA), and Introduction to the Field of Social Work, (TA).

As a doctoral student herself, Seungmi recently spent a year conducting dissertation research in Seoul, Korea as a Fulbright U.S. student award recipient. Seungmi’s critical interdisciplinary research is broadly motivated by Black feminism’s intersectional theorization of reality as structured by race, class, and gender.
