Global Studies and the Offices of the Dean of Students announce the opening of the third (Spring 2009) WI-Global Forum. The WI-Global Forum is an online discussion for and by UW-Madison undergraduates on contemporary global topics and their relevance to and impact on local communities.
The discussion takes place on the WI-Global Forum site where additional details can be found.
The topic for Spring 2009 concerns issues of cultural purity and intrusion and what increasing globalization means for the ethnic, national, and global cultures that exist (or might be in the process of disappearing).
The Forum opened in January to all UW-Madison undergraduates and will close at the end of the semester. Up to two active contributors will receive $125 gift certificates to the DoIT tech store for the most outstanding posts to the discussion. And this semester participants need to post only three entries to be eligible of the WI-Global Forum Award.
Any UW-Madison undergraduate, regardless of major, may participate in the WI-Global Forum. To register with WI-Global click here.
You can get complete details, read all the postings, catch up on past discussions and follow this semester’s at http://wi-global.blogspot.com/. And the WI-Global Forum is on Facebook too!
