A delegation from Zhejiang University visited UW-Madison October 25-26, and attended two days of proceedings. The delegation met with faculty and staff from the Division of International Studies, Department of Kinesiology, and College of Engineering. On Tuesday morning, Vice Provost and Dean Gilles Bousquet signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Wu Ping, the vice president for International Affairs at Zhejiang University. Following the MOU signing, faculty and staff from the Center for East Asian Studies and the Wisconsin China Initiative discussed study abroad options in Zhejiang University with the delegation and then enjoyed lunch together.
Other members from the Zhejiang University delegation and UW-Madison signed the MOU: Zheng Xiaoxiang, executive director of Qiushi Academy for Advanced Studies, Zhejiang University; John Kao, vice chair and professor of Biomedical Engineering, and professor of pharmacy and surgery, UW-Madison; Beth Meyerand, chair and professor of Biomedical Engineering, UW-Madison; and Nin Gangmin, dean of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Zhejiang University.
After the MOU proceedings, the group discussed expanding the existing undergraduate study abroad programs and faculty exchange programs, which was followed by a group discussion on opportunities in global higher education and student exchange programs.
