WUN expands its membership to 17 and welcomes its second Australian member.
WUN is delighted to announce the arrival of new member, the University of Western Australia. Professor Michael Arthur comments “Multilateral partnership in research through organisations like WUN is going to be vital in global HE and it gives me enormous pleasure to have UWA join us at this still relatively early stage in the history of WUN.”
Founded in 1911, the University is one of Australia’s leading research-intensive universities and the premier research institution in Western Australia. Teaching and learning play an integral part in delivering its research agenda and in helping the University to achieve international excellence. The UWA seeks to be recognised internationally as an excellent, research-intensive university and a leading intellectual and creative resource to the communities it serves and in so doing complements WUN’s portfolio of members.
The UWA Vice-Chancellor Professor Alan Robson says “The evolving impact of globalisation and the challenges of working in a highly competitive international environment have made networks such as the WUN an essential part of research, development and global innovation”.
He continues, “Together we will be able to generate economic, social, cultural and environmental benefits for our respective communities and nations, and the world.”
