Dean Guido Podesta
International Division Vice Provost and Dean Guido Podesta

On behalf of the entire International Division, it is my pleasure to congratulate you on your graduation from UW–Madison!

You are graduating with something that is crucial to succeeding in today’s world—a global perspective. Whether you plan to work domestically or focus your talents across international borders, your capacity to understand and appreciate cultures, languages, societies, and daily modes of life will prove valuable both personally and professionally.

The areas studies centers and the International Studies major within the Institute for Regional and International Studies offer a vast array of programming for undergraduates and graduates, all aimed at helping students prepare to engage the world. I am proud that you chose to participate in one of these programs and add an international dimension to your academic pursuits. As you begin the next step of your journey, I hope that you continue to build on the lessons and experiences from your time at UW–Madison and further cultivate your perspectives as global citizens.

The world faces many challenges that require cooperation across borders. The good news is that people like you will be in a position to build bridges between nations and peoples.

We wish you the all the best on the next part of your journey.

On Wisconsin!
