Masaharu Yoshida, the Consul General of Japan at Chicago, visited Madison recently, and met informally with a group of UW-Madison students who had traveled recently to Japan, as well as several faculty and staff members, on the Memorial Union Terrace on July 23, 2013.
In May, Charo D’Etcheverry, associate professor of Japanese literature, led a group of 23 undergraduate students to Japan through the new “Kakehashi Project – The Bridge for Tomorrow.”

Several of these students met with the consul general and talked about their experiences. The students presented Yoshida, who assumed his post in Chicago in January, with a Bucky Badger card signed by all members of the group.
