As millions prepare to watch the world’s best athletes compete in the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games Feb. 7 through Feb. 25, experts from UW–Madison can speak on a wide range of subjects relating to the competition.
Korea
David Fields is a historian with expertise on Korea. He is an affiliated faculty member for the Center for East Asian Studies and deputy director for digital projects at the Center for the Study of the America Constitution. Fields edited “The Diary of Syngman Rhee, 1904–34, 1944,” which was published by the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History in 2015. He was also a Fulbright Scholar at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, from 2016-2017. He can be reached at dpfields@wisc.edu.
Eunsook Jung is a political scientist with expertise on Korea. She is an affiliated faculty member with the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Center for East Asian Studies & Middle Eastern Studies Program, with an appointment in the Department of Political Science. Jung has taught several courses on politics in Southeast Asia. She speaks extensively on Korea. An upcoming public talk will examine the developments of the missile crisis and North-South Korea relations, and how they affect security in East Asia and the United States.
