UW-Madison’s Stephen Hilyard, a professor of digital media with the School of Education’s Art Department, recently received the Svankmajer Award for Best Animation at the Austin Arthouse Film Festival for his animation, “Morning Glory”.
Screened by the Austin Film Society Cinema alongside internationally acclaimed short films, “Morning Glory” captures the essence of a single morning glory flower. This single channel video begins with a shot of the morning glory against the flower bed, and moves the viewer into the flower itself, exposing its internal structures that take on unique characteristics that create a world of its own.
“Morning Glory” is but one of Hilyard’s award-winning works.
