The University of Wisconsin–Madison welcomed a delegation of three vice presidents and one physician from the Université des Antilles et de la Guyane (UAG) this week.
While here, members of the delegation, Jean-Pierre Cherdieu, VP for Administration, Cendrine Délivré, VP for Financial and Legal Affairs, Michel Geoffroy, VP for Research Development, and Suzy Duflo, MD, toured the Kohl Center, Memorial Library, and WID/MIR. They also met with Division of International Studies Vice Provost Gilles Bousquet, Drs. McCullough and Thibeault of the UW hospital, and faculty and staff in the Department of French and Italian about potential collaborations between the two institutions.
Together they began to lay down the framework for a developing partnership, which they sealed by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Provost Paul DeLuca. The MOU was the first of its kind for UAG.
The visit followed the recent trip of UW–Madison professor Aliko Songolo and UW librarian Emilie Songolo, to the French Antilles where they were both impressed by the quality and potential of UAG as a partner for UW–Madison. Photos of their trip to Guadeloupe and Martinique, from March 28 to April 1, 2010 are in the below slideshow, along with photos from the UAG Delegation to UW–Madison
